Blurb (from Goodreads):

Love thy sexy jerk of a neighbor…

CEO Michael Anderson might be something of a “control freak.” Still, he’s not quite sure why his therapist thinks dogsitting will fix anything—especially since he and the canine share a kind of mutual loathing. And to make matters worse, a house sitter moves in next door disrupting his peace—and his dates—with the worst possible music at the worst possible time… every time.

Free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis has settled into the perfect gig—housesitting in NYC’s Upper West Side while working as an art therapist. Too bad she’s stuck living next door to a bossy control freak with a penchant for calling building security when she blasts music to drown out the noises coming through his bedroom wall.

Post-apocalyptic dinner rolls that nearly take her kitchen with them, a douchebag ex, and a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla attack Mia in one day, and her unlikely neighbor comes to the rescue. Like it was her fault. And now, somehow, they find themselves engaged? Both agree, this neighborly feud just got taken to a whole new level.

Neighbours with Benefits was a book which was fun, humorous and sexy. I enjoyed this book from the very beginning, there’s wasn’t a dull moment once and the characters constantly kept me on my toes.

Michael Anderson and Mia Argaropolis are neighbours and they both hate each other. Whereas Michael is discipline, uptight, a control freak, Mia is the complete opposite, she’s a free spirited artist, a little bit awkward and clumsy. Michael believes she’s exactly the kind of woman he should stay away from yet he finds himself intrigued by her. When Mia’s douchebag ex-boyfriend storms in her house, Michael saves the day but they both end up acting engaged infront of him and when other things are thrown in, she agrees to stay with Michael and they come to a mutual agreement to put up with the act until her friend’s wedding, in return she agrees to take care of the temporary dog, Clancy in his house. But this deal quickly escalates into something more. When sparks fly between them, can they find enough common ground to consider a future together?

The plot was good and a bit fresh, I enjoyed it from the beginning. The banters between Michael and Mia were hilarious and there were many moments I found myself laughing out loud. I did feel that the feelings changed quite quickly between them, specially Michael’s. But I loved the romance, it was a slow-burn kind of thing, it was sweet and sexy. Although their feelings changed quickly, I’m glad she didn’t give in so quickly and their relationship developed and matured slowly throughout the book. I loved how the things were executed smoothly during the wedding and so many things changed and the real emotions flowed out, it was handled perfectly. And oh! The ending was just heart melting!

I liked the characters, they were pretty different, in a good way. I loved Mia, she was fun, strong, free-spirited and knew what she wanted. It was hard to resist Michael but she did it because she knew she deserved “more.” It made me respect her much more. She also made Michael see what he was missing out on life, she fully changed his life course. Michael was the complete opposite of Mia. He loved being in control all the time and all he knew was work and work. But nonetheless he had a caring and sweet facade underneath his hard exterior. I simply loved how he stood up for Mia or came to her rescue every single time when she in trouble. Everything changed in his life after he met Mia and saw the world in a different perspective. I liked the other characters as well, although they played a minor role but they were interesting nonetheless.

Writing style-

The writing was simple and beautiful. I finished this book quite easily in a few sittings as the words flowed easily. I loved the dialogues and the banters between the characters. The pace was even throughout the book, it was neither too fast nor too slow.

This book was totally fun and entertaining, I had only minor issues with it, other than that it was quite awsome. I enjoyed the plot from the very beginning, the characters had their fair share of faults but they were different and great. I enjoyed reading about them. The romance was a beautiful mixture of sweet and sexy. And the writing style was smooth and beautiful, I indeed liked this book very much.

Recommend it?
