Blurb (from Goodreads):
When your life feels like a bad movie, rewrite the script.
When Willa Schofer’s father comes home from a business trip with an über-famous new fiancée, Willa’s senior year blows up in paparazzi-fueled flames. Overnight, she has a new house, a new car, and a new soon-to-be stepbrother— the unbelievably hot, unbelievably arrogant, Finn McCain. Thank god he’s constantly pushing her buttons, or she might do something irresponsible. Like fall for the jerk.
Just when Willa’s decided to avoid him for, oh, ever, Finn lands in the center of her senior project team. Seriously— how hard is it to shake a guy? At least her work on the project snagged the attention of the (second) hottest guy in school. He might only be into her because of her famous stepmom, and he’s not quite as exciting as a certain annoying housemate, but at least she’s allowed to crush on the guy.
Because crushing on your annoying stepbrother? So not cool.
This Entangled Teen Crush book contains an unbelievably hot bad boy, an unbelievably famous actress, and all the drama that comes with adding both to your family. Oh, and a forbidden flirtation with a soon-to-be stepbrother.
This book was adorably cute! I’m not making much sense but what I want to say is that I absolutely loved it to bits! When I requested it, I didn’t know this book wasn’t a standalone, I learned about it while browsing Goodreads later. And well, the ending was completely frustrating because well, it just ended! And the next book comes out in November!! Someone help me please! I can’t wait this long… *sobs*
Ahem! Well moving forward with the review…
It’s always been Willa and her father against the world ever since her mom passed away. But one day when her father returns from a business trip, he announces out of the blue that he has decided to marry and he’s already engaged to none other than one of her favourite actress. Overnight, her whole life changes. But that’s not all, she learns that she would have a new stepbrother as well. Willa is not ready for such a drastic change and things start to become more complicated when she finds herself falling for her annoying soon-to-be-stepbrother. How will Willa handle everything?
I haven’t read much stepbrother romance yet so I decided to start with this one plus it screamed of forbidden romance, so yep! I could not pass it up. I’m glad this book lived upto my expectations because I absolutely fell head over heels in love with it. The plot was executed perfectly. Willa’s life spirals out of control when her father decides to marry an actress who is also known as Hollywood’s heartbreaker. She is genuinely afraid that her father’s heart would be broken again and this time she won’t be able to handle it as it was quite difficult when her mother passed away. She gets completely freaked out because she knows she won’t be able to have the normal life she loved. Sometimes it did seem she acted like a total brat, but if I were in her shoes I would have completely freaked out as well so I totally get it where she was coming from.
And I really hated her father, he completely dropped the bomb on her that he was set to marry and she had to meet his finance right now, instead of calmly discussing it with his daughter first. I mean who does that! Both her father and Finn’s mother were acting childish than being actual good functional parents. It seemed like they were living in their happy little bubble whereas Willa and Finn were going through so much turmoil and inner conflict. Also, I don’t know what I feel about Damien, Willa’s school crush. Does he genuinely like her or is it because of her sudden fame? We sure will get to know this later but whatever, I still want him out of the picture because I want FILLA!! (This is such a weird ship name guys! 😛 )
I absolutely loved Willa! She was a strong and caring person. Although she was completed freaked out about her situation, she was trying her best to cope up with everything but with Finn in the view it was quite difficult. I liked Finn so, so much. He was cocky and acted like a douchebag but as we got to know him, I understood the inner turmoil he was going through as well. Underneath he was just a sweet and adorable guy. They both hated each other, atleast wanted to, but they were falling hard for each other as well. Although there was not much romance between these two but there was some undeniable chemistry which I absolutely loved.
Overall, How Willa Got Her Groove Back was an amazing read. The plot was executed really well and I fell in love with the characters. The writing was simple and easy to read. I quite liked the alternating POVs where we got Willa’s perspective in 1st person and Finn’s in 3rd person. The pace was even throughout the book. And umm… I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!
Soooo guys, have you started this book yet? If you’ve already, then how is your experience so far? Or are you planning to read it soon? Share your thoughts with me!
Hmm, this one sounds interesting. Willa’s father sounds totally childish and like a d-bag omg. Though I’m not a big fan of contemporaries that range for more than a book (urgh that ending must have been so frustrating!), it still sounds pretty cute. I don’t think I’d pick this one up though, because step-sibling relationships are so odd for me. I think it would take special circumstances for me to read one of those. 😛

Well, it’s still to-be-step sibling if it’s any relief! 🙂 Yes, I wanted to bang her father’s head to a wall, his actions were so frustrating sometimes. But overall it was just a cute and a great read, I can’t wait for the sequel! 🙂
Haha, stepbrother romance definitely sounds like something forbidden! I’m so glad to hear you loved this so much more than the last read. I have to admit I don’t like forbidden romances all that much though. 😛 Well maybe unless it was like a non-creepy student/teacher relationship. I can’t wait to read Unteachable and Losing It for that reason. 😉

Yeah… I know! 🙂 Although this was a forbidden romance but GAH! they didn’t even kiss. *sighs*
Ooh, I hope you looove Losing It, it was definitely humorous and funny! And sweet as well. I definitely have to look up Unteachable but I like the name. 😀
Wow, this book definitely going into my tbr! This book sounds like a perfect combo of forbidden/ hate-love romance and I’m a total sucker for books like these. Great Review! 😀
