Hey there guys! Welcome to Daydreaming Discussions. This is a monthly feature created by me where I discuss anything bookish related or sometimes it might be about any non-bookish things as well. Also be prepared for a lot of ramblings and rantings and you’re very welcome to be a part of the discussion.
Today’s topic is-
This post was inspired by Adhvika @ Books and Fiction. Check out her blog guys! Though I did a twist to my one. I’m going to be listing ten hyped books that I already have but I haven’t read yet along with my reasons! Also these books are either the first in a series or standalone.
So here we go!
- On number 1 we have Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare!
My Reason: I do have a legit reason for this one. I’m currently reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, so I’m pretty close to finishing The Infernal Devices trilogy. Next I’ll finish the last two books of The Mortal Instruments series before heading to Lady Midnight. So I’m just following the series here… but I couldn’t resist buying this one as soon as it came out but it’s worth the wait. 🙂
2. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.
My Reason: I have heard mixed reviews for this one so although I bought it I was still kinda reluctant but now someone on Instagram convinced me so I think I’ll give it a go pretty soon.
3. Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski.
My Reason: Eeeh! I should have already read this by now but… I haven’t. *sighs* I will, I will as soon as I’m finished marathoning with the Shadowhunter stuff!
4. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray.
My Reason: Basically I’ve only heard good things about this book but I just didn’t have the time to pick it up yet. Also I think I want the 2nd book first before I start with this series. I mean all the covers in this series are so gorgeous, I want them all!
5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.
My Reason: This series is crazily hyped and most of the people in planet Earth have already read it, ate it. So why haven’t I? I really have no idea. I think a tini-tiny part of me is still not convinced about this one. I guess I’ll read it eventually, it’s just not my top priority at the moment.
*Dodges a flying book!*
6. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
My Reason: For this book, I really have no clue about why I haven’t started this series yet. It’s sitting on my e-shelf for a long time. I think I have to pick it up soon now! Nonetheless I have a feeling I’m going to love this one.
7. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.
My Reason: I’m running out of reasons now. I loved Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and I was really excited to read this one but I just haven’t. I slowly have to walk my way up to my everlasting tbr that’s piling up in my home!
8. Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy.
My Reason: Are you people tired of my reasons yet?! So I’ll just say I’ll get to this one as soon as possible!
9. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West.
My Reason: There was a time when pretty much everyone was reading this one. Wherever I looked, they were posting the reviews of this book so naturally I was pretty curious to read this one. I downloaded the ebook but never got to the reading part but reading a YA contemporary romance really depends on my mood, I can suddenly pick it up any day now!
10. Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
My Reason: This book is pretty big. Not that matters but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews for this one and I really want to see the film. So I pretty much buyed this book on an impulse when I was in the book store and I heard two girls gushing about it. So yeah now I have a reason to read it and then watch the film asap!
——————————————————————
Now, I’m going to list some more reasons. NO! Hear me out before running away, okay? 😛 I’m going to state some universal reasons why I don’t end up reading a book that I already own-
Life- I’m a student. So I’ve studying and stuffs, stuffs and pretty much other stuffs to do! So the time is pretty limited and it’s one of the main factor. Also when exams fall into the equation, I pretty much go on a reading ban. Its tough *sniffs* but also necessary!
ARCs- With arcs comes obligations. We usually have a specific time limit to finish the book and post the review. And I basically can’t control myself so yeah… the books that I already own push back down in my list.
Mood- Uh yeah, it does play a vital role because if I’m not in the mood for reading a particular genre I might end up disliking that book and believe me you don’t want that!
Plus I already own the books I have, I can read it later, right? Eh… but that later ends up being much, much later! I really want to read this books that I’ve listed. So, I hope I can get to them soon enough! *fingers crossed!*
Sooo… what did you think of this post guys? Do you have a list of books that you own but haven’t read it? Or how many books have you read from this list?
Also, what do you think of the reasons, specifically the universal ones? Do you agree or disagree? Or do you have some more reasons to add? 😛
I read most of the books in this list, A Darker Shade of Magic being my favorite, so I can tell you that those are all good reads! I liked the last book in The Winner’s Curse much, much better than the first two ones, though. Oh, I have yet to read Lady Midnight and Love, Rosie.

THE WINNER’S CURSE IS AMAZING. Such amazing characters, exquisite writing, and flawless romance. I seriously cannot praise it enough. I hope that when you decide to read it you end up loving it as much as I did. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous choices! ❤

That’s good to hear! That book is next on my list as soon as I finish my binge reading on all the Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare!
I really hope so too! Thank you so much! 🙂

Out of the books on this list, I would recommend The Winner’s Curse the most! It’s such an incredible series!! I actually read the first two Throne of Glass books and then gave up. They are getting progressively longer and the series is supposed to be six books now! They also seem to diverge from the original plot with the third book and I just wasn’t interested anymore. Good luck if you decide to read any of these! 😀

Oh well… that’s great! Now I have enough recommendation to start The Winner’s Curse! I will start this series asap! 🙂
I’ll still give ToG series a try to see if I like it or not. Thanks nonetheless.

I’ve heard mixed reviews on the Winner’s Curse – I haven’t yet read it myself due to this. I look forward to hearing what you think!

I’ve read 8 of these. XD hehe, SO YEAH I THINK YO UNEED TO READ SOM EO FHTEM FOR SURE!! I wasn’t a fan of Red Queen, but omggg A Darker Shade of Magic is everything. I totally recommend. And have the sequel on hand. And then you can join the rest of us screaming because we NEED THE FINALE SO SO BAD. XD
I also get caught up reading ARCs and things and the books I actually bought or were given get pushed to the bottom of my TBR too. Agh. Balancing books is hard. 😛

I’ve actually been really good these past few months. I haven’t requested any ARCs (and the unsolicited ones are just, well, unsolicited copies so I don’t think they expect me to have to review them). Mood plays a great part in my reading, too. And haha, I’m not any better than you, Poulami. I’ve only read 2/10 (TWC and ADSoM) of these books and all but one (Dumplin’-it’s not really my type of book honestly) are on my TBR. 😛

Well that’s really great! During my exam time my restraining power is really good but the other times, not so much….
Hope we can get to all of these pretty soon! 🙂

I’ve read half of these, haha. Admittedly though It’s because those are authors I usually love and always pick up their books. I love love A Darker Shade of Magic and The Winner’s Crime. Kasie West is perfect for when you need cute contemporary reads!
I have Carry On just sitting on my shelf waiting for me, I just haven’t been in the mood for it, sigh. haha. Great post!

Real quickly, just to preface what I’m about to say as a background story – I first read Throne of Glass back when it was getting some serious attention, but before it became nearly as hyped as it is now. I entered Throne of Glass with pretty high hopes – and was quite disappointed. It wasn’t a bad read, just wasn’t nearly as good as I had expected/wanted it to be. To this day, I consider it to be the weakest in the series. I then decided to continue on, and read Crown of Midnight with absolutely no expectations – and holy shit, I fell completely in love. If you decide to read this series, PLEASE stick with it past Throne of Glass if you don’t end up liking it (since I know a lot of people aren’t the biggest fans of it), because it gets so, so infinitely better. Okay that’s the end of my quick attempt to sell you on Throne of Glass, hahah!
Also! Yes, The Winner’s Curse is amazing, and I’m excited to hear your thoughts on it!

I will definitely keep that in mind when I start the series. 🙂
I can’t wait to start it!

I have only read 2 books from this list, guess I also need to catch up on all those hyped books! The Fill-in Boyfriend is a fluffy and quick read, it wasn’t really life changing or moving but it’s definitely a pleasant read. While Love Rosie, I loved that book so much! The writing style was also great and the whole story was amazing. 😊💙

That’s actually great to hear, I needed some motivation to read Love, Rosie book and now I think I’ll pick it up soon enough! 🙂

I still haven’t read The Winner’s Curse, A Thousand Pieces of You, and ADSOM. Mind you I owe all three and my reasons are all mood. Which I saw is one of your reasons at the end of the post. I think mood has so much to do with how you will enjoy the book. Throne of Glass, I was skeptical in the beginning and I actually didn’t really enjoy the first book but then I read The Assassin’s Blade and Crown of Midnight and was blown away (it’s one of my favorite series now). Sometimes, some books are for you and others aren’t. If you like the series then cool and if you don’t, that’s cool too. Happy Reading!!!

I *just* read Carry On and I loved it. Well, I listened to the audio book actually. The narrator was fantastic. I have not read FanGirl yet, but I loved Carry On anyway. 🙂 I read Dumplin’ a few months ago and that book is terrific too. Enjoy!!

This is a nice post. I also have a lot of unread hyped books. I’m actually scared in reading them thinking I might not get the same feels to it as the other readers does.

I totally understand you but I just go for it if I really want to read it or wait sometime before the hype dies down a bit!
