*Major spoilers for those who haven’t read the previous books in this series.*
I was a little hesitant to read this book at first seeing how Axton wasn’t my favourite character but at the same time I was curious to learn what happened back at the time when Sadie was at Tor. This book definitely didn’t disappoint.
Axton is aware of her mother’s heinous plans for Sadie. If she goes through her plan, Sadie will go through a memory wipe process before she is returned to earth for her mission to destroy Logan. But Ax and Sadie are both in love with each other and they are not ready to lose each other yet. Will Ax be able to save Sadie in time.
This book is narrated from Ax’s POV. We get to see Sadie before she was returned to earth. So many experiments were conducted on her and she had to go through tough training. Seeing Ax and Sadie together was a little weird because I can’t bear to see her with anyone except Logan. From this one thing is clear, whoever Sadie loves and cares about, she is passionately devoted to them. But I liked Ax when she was with Sadie, he was a better person with her.
Nonetheless I did like their friendship but Ax knew everything her mother was doing, maybe not the actual motive behind it but he knew everything beside that. He did try to save Sadie from his mother but I wish he had tried harder because Sadie went through a freaking lot! I loved Sadie’s friendship with Izzy and I was heartbroken to see what happened when they tried to break the rules.
But… there always remains a but when it comes to Ax, I didn’t like how he treated Sadie in the previous book, like she was something to be won over and I could see that particular voice at the end of the novella as well. Even if he becomes a martyr in the end of this series, I don’t think I will ever love this guy but this novella was definitely an interesting read and I’m glad I read it.
Overall, The Heir and the Human was a good read. I liked how everything was executed. The writing was smooth and easy to read and it was fast paced. I seriously can’t wait to read Saven Declaration!!
