Blurb (from Goodreads):

Reality sucks. Make-believe rocks. That’s been Fate Floyd’s motto for as long as she’s been a fantasy geek. But now she can hardly tell what’s real and what’s not. She’s been spelled and mysteriously trapped within a deadly fairy tale world bound by the Book of Fables. Her only way home is to travel through the book’s 8 unfortunate fairy tales and change them into happily-ever-afters. And if dealing with scheming sorceresses, greedy goblins and heartless faeries isn’t enough to test her sanity, there’s Finn. The Scottish boy who looks like he stepped straight out of her dreams. As it turns out, make-believe isn’t as fun as Fate thought it would be. The reality is, her road to freedom isn’t straight, and danger lurks around every bend.

My Thoughts

This book was really fun to read about. I went into this book without knowing anything and I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did but I’m glad chose to read this book.

Fate is a fantasy geek and a writer but what she didn’t expect her worlds to merge. When one incident leads to another, Fate finds herself trapped in the “Book of Fables” where she is ordered to bring back something precious and the only way she can get back to her world is to alternate all endings of the 8 stories into a happy one. Can Fate change all the fates of the story without losing herself?

The plot of this book was unique and refreshing. I really enjoyed the adventure through all the 8 fables that Fate had to cross in order to return home. All the stories were pretty different and I really liked the concept. What wasn’t there in this story, goblins, faeries, trolls and so much more, the most important being Finn. I can’t divulge the truth about him because that would be a major spoiler but damn I loved him so much!

I loved the romance between Fate and Finn. It really broke my heart when something happens in the middle of the book but nonetheless I enjoyed their chemistry. I loved the reference to all the fandom which proved how much of a geek Fate was, it was awesome!

The character development in this book is amazing. Fate develops so much throughout this book. All the characters were pretty interesting to read about but my favourite is none other than Sithias. Yes, a winged snake is my favourite character in this book! The twist with Gerdie was unexpected. There were so many elements in this book which constantly surprised me but I didn’t even think that could happen in the end. I really want to know what happens after this!

Overall, Fate’s Fables was quite an interesting read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters continued to surprise me. It was packed with action and adventure and it managed to hold my attention throughout the book. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even through out the book. I hope the next book is out soon so that I can finally know what Fate faces next!

Recommend it?
