the thing
that happens
to us
while we’re off
somewhere else
blowing on
& wishing
ourselves into
the pages of
our favorite

My Thoughts

This poetry book was just mesmerizing. Honestly, I am not much of a poetry fan. But that slowly started changing after I started reading Poe and also the credit goes to my blogger buddy, Gretchen @ ChicNerdReads. And guys, don’t forget to check out her cover real of her very own poetry book: love, and youhere.

So back to the topic. I saw a lot of people raving about this book and I decided to give it a try as well. And oh, my, God! I thought this book would take some time to read but once I started, it was impossible to stop. I finished it in less than half an hour.

This collection of poems is divided into four parts- the princess, the damsel, the queen, and you. Each of the parts was unique and beautiful. I especially teared up during the damsel part.

The complaints I saw from a few people on Goodreads was about the writing style. But for me, that completely worked! I liked how the writing easily flowed and kept me captivated throughout the book. Whereas I could relate to some of them, the others melted my heart.

  2. I was so intrigued by the title of this and then immediately turned off by the poetry. I guess I just haven’t really read any poetry that wasn’t for school so I’m a little scared! But the concept of this sounds great so maybe I will just give in and try it.

    • This was my first and I’m soooo glad I gave it a chance! It was definitely different from what I had read in school and I think that’s why I loved it this much! 😛 I hope you give it a try and love it as much as I did! 🙂
