My Rating:

Blurb (from Goodreads):

Outfielder Tristan Murrell has a problem. As the number two slugger for the Suttonville Sentinels, his team is counting on him to make their very first run at the state championship. But he has a secret—his swing has totally deserted him. As in, he can’t hit anything. He needs to fix the issue, and fast, but how?

Ballerina Alyssa Kaplan has a problem, too. The shiny new sports complex in town has left her family’s batting cage business on the verge of going under. Nailing her audition for a prestigious dance company is everything, but there’s no way she’s letting her some shiny big-box company destroy her family’s livelihood.

Tristan needs a miracle. So does Alyssa. And maybe, just maybe, Tristan’s secret weapon might be the girl of his dreams…

Disclaimer: This book contains hot, shirtless baseball players, kisses that bring a ballerina to her knees, and a lot of baseball smack-talk.

This was a quick read and fun read. This book definitely had its flaws but overall I really enjoyed it.

Tristan is facing a lot of problems in his baseball despite being one of the top players in his team. Alyssa loves her ballet but she can do nothing when her father’s business is going out of market. They both begin to fall for one another when Tristan comes to her father’s batting cage for some alone practice. But things begin to fall out of control when both their best friends confess for a liking to one another. The only way out is to confess the truth or lose their friendship forever.

The plot was predictable and cheesy as hell but at the same time, it was quite enjoyable. Alyssa and Tristan start falling for one another when Tristan decides to do some practice to get out of his slump. Alyssa being a former softball player helps him out and Tristan discovers that she is his muse as well. I enjoyed their relationship. But then, both of Tristan’s best friend confessed he liked Alyssa and Alyssa’s bff confessed she liked Tristan which was kinda weird, even for them and it was quite natural that they couldn’t decide how to break it to them. It did feel a little unrealistic how everything was sunshine and rainbows at the end.

Nonetheless, the characters kept me interested throughout the book. Alyssa was pretty smart and confident and she spoke her mind. She and Tristan were pretty much a perfect couple. Tristan’s gesture to save her family business was really sweet. The other characters were pretty fun to read about as well.

Overall, Swinging at Love was a fun but predictable read. I liked the characters and the romance between Alyssa and Tristan. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book.

  3. Lovely review! Too bad it felt a bit too predictable and unrealistic, but I’m glad to hear the book managed to keep you entertained the whole time. It seems like a cute summery read, might need to put it on my contemporary tbr for the summer 🙂
