This book was such a great ride. The first time I read World After, I didn’t enjoy it so much, in fact, it felt quite meh but I guess re-reading this book helped seeing everything from another perspective which was the reason, in the end, I loved it so much. I buddy read this one too, with Raven. So, let’s jump into the review now, shall we? Oh and you can also read my review of book 1: Angelfall, here.

After Penryn rescues her sister from the Angels’ lair, she gets hurt in the process but Raffe brings her to safety and back to her family. Page, Penryn’s sister is not the same person she knew anymore. When the people in the Resistance camp mistake Paige for a monster, she runs away and Paige sets out to another journey to find her little sister while Raffe is still on the hunt for his wings. Both of their journeys lead to the same destination but what happens Penryn comes face to face with the horrific truth about the Angels?

This book picks up right where it left off. Paige is back with her family but she is far from the girl who she used to be once because of the experiments that were done on her when she was captured by the Angels. After an incident happens in the Resistance camp and Paige runs off, Penryn along with her mother and another woman (I forgot her name though) whom Penryn saved before, leaves off together in search of her. When I read this book the first time, it felt pretty meh to me but this was so not the case for this time. This book was engaging and I was on the edge the whole time. I also wanted to hit Obi, he was the leader of a whole freaking camp but his sense of judgement was really, really bad.

This book was action packed and I was not bored for even a second, in fact, this it was pretty hard to put this book down. And Penryn, she was simply amazing but not devoid of flaws which made her character more realistic. But I really missed Raffe in this book, he was barely there but I wanted so much more. The chemistry between them was more than ever and whatever little moments we saw between them, were just so swoon-worthy!

“Let go,” I say into his ear.

Raffe holds me tighter like there’s no room for discussion.”

World After also focused more on character development and we got to see more of the Angel politics and the parties which were equally creepy and scary. Alcatraz was a pure nightmare and when the actual truth came out behind all the experiments, I was shell shocked, I mean I quite understood what was going on but finally getting the whole truth, it was nightmarish.

One of my favourite aspects of this book was Pooky bear, Raffe’s sword whom Penryn dressed it up in a teddy bear to disguise it. Pooky Bear had a personality of its own and it really made things more interesting. And it seriously cracked me up when Raffe learned the new name of his precious sword.

Overall, World After was a fantastic read. I enjoyed how the plot was executed and the characters kept me on my toes. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace throughout the book. I’ll be posting my review for the 3rd and last book in this trilogy soon, so stay tuned for that!
