Blurb (from Goodreads):
End of Days is the explosive conclusion to Susan Ee’s bestselling Penryn & the End of Days trilogy. After a daring escape from the angels, Penryn and Raffe are on the run. They’re both desperate to find a doctor who can reverse the twisted changes inflicted by the angels on Raffe and Penryn’s sister. As they set off in search of answers, a startling revelation about Raffe’s past unleashes dark forces that threaten them all.
When the angels release an apocalyptic nightmare onto humans, both sides are set on a path toward war. As unlikely alliances form and strategies shift, who will emerge victorious? Forced to pick sides in the fight for control of the earthly realm, Raffe and Penryn must choose: Their own kind, or each other?
The first two books in this series was a reread for me but this one was the one where I was going in blind and I was sooo glad it met my expectations. Of course, there were a few ups and downs but overall, it was a great ride.
*A little spoilery*
Raffe and Penryn are both on the run. Penryn finally has her sister but that is the least of her worries right now because the Angels have released an apocalyptic nightmare upon them. After facing so much, Penryn is not ready to go down without a fight. Will she be able to make any difference or will the nightmares swallow her whole?
I loved this book so much. The plot was engaging and I couldn’t put this book down. So many things happened this book, it was full of action, adventure and romance and I couldn’t get enough of it. After finally finding Paige, Raffe and Paige are headed towards the Resistance camp in hope of finding some help but the journey is not as easy as they constantly thrown into one danger or the other.
“Just this once,’ he says almost more to himself than to me. ‘Just one moment.’
Then he leans down and kisses me.”
I heard a lot of complaints about this book, that it was too sappy but I have to completely disagree on that point because the moments between Raffe and Penryn were sooo romantic and hell, I wanted more! It was (kinda) the end of the world and Penryn deserved it. I wanted to hit Raffe sometimes for being all hot and cold sometimes but it was crystal clear how much he cared and loved Penryn and he would do everything to ensure that she was safe and so would Penryn. ❤
Uriel was a weird kind of villain, I mean he had brains but he was not clever like Crowley (if you get my reference). Also, Paige was badass. I loved her so much and she a did a hell lot of more than help and I was finally glad to see Penryn accepting her totally for who she was now. I was worried hell for Dee and Dum and I didn’t want a repeat of what happened to the Weasleys, thank God I was proved wrong!! And Pooky Bear, how can I forget her, she was epic!!!
“Come on. Say it, Raffe.” I give him a half smile. “I love it when you say Pooky Bear. It’s just so perfect when it comes out of your mouth.”
“She might kill you in your sleep one of these days just so she can get rid of that name.”
The thing which shocked me the most was Belial’s backstory. I hated that guy so, so much but after getting to know how he became what he was now, I ended up sobbing hysterically. The hero had become the villain of his own story. And that was sad. I was a little unsure about how exactly things would go down in the end, after seeing their plan, I was kinda terrified because that seemed too basic: do or die kinda basic and the ending felt a little underwhelmed but I did enjoy it.
Overall, End of Days was a great read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters kept me engaged throughout the whole book. The romance between Raffe and Penryn was perfectly swoon-worthy! The writing was smooth and easy to read and it was fast-paced and I loved humour in this book! I am definitely counting on to read more by this author.

I just recently read the second book and can’t wait to read the third! I’m all for sappy love moments, so that won’t be a complaint of mine! I’m super interested in Belial’s (I spelled that wrong, lol) backstory now! Great review Poulami! I’m looking forward to seeing Paige and Pooky Bear in action!

Though it was a sad ending for him – this book would’ve felt..um…weird (?) if that didn’t happen. But this series is just too good and we cannot wait to reread it many times again!

Spot on Poulami! And I cried over Belial too. I hated him in the first two books and here I wished he would have had a HEA too. 😉

I remember enjoying this book but being disappointed at the end. I was underwhelmed as well. At least you enjoyed it!
But I too loved the relationship between Raffe and Pen. It feels like so long ago that I read this series! I really want Susan Ee to release another series!

Great Review! I’m so glad to hear that we had same thoughts on this book. Yeah, I also wished for more Raffe and Penryn moments. The ending wasn’t a perfect closure and It would’ve been great if there was a separate novella after the end of the days. Anyways, I enjoyed doing a buddy read with you and I hope we do more in the future. 🙂
