Daydreaming Discussions: The 4 Epic Stages of Fangirling/Fanboying! || Extreme Flailing!!

daydreaming discussions

Hey there guys! Welcome to Daydreaming Discussions. This is a monthly feature created by me where I discuss anything bookish related or sometimes it might be about any non-bookish things as well. Also, be prepared for a lot of ramblings and rantings and you’re very welcome to be a part of the discussion.

Today I wanted to talk about-

This is something we fangirls go through freaking every day! You think it’s easy, uh huh? Then you’re in for a ride! Without further ado…

1. The “accidentally falling into the rabbit hole” stage

I think most of us usually stumble upon our destiny and that becomes a part of our lives to stay forever and ever and ever… (If you read that in a veeeeery dramatic way, high five mate!)

That’s how I discover new stuff. Mostly. Be it a new tv show, book or cute Korean guys. Yes, I had to add that one. Anyway, you start a book with expectations or maybe just straight dive in but you didn’t know that the character(s) would have a permanent place in your heart. Same goes for a tv show or movie. For me, Supernatural has a permanent place in my heartu and I loooove the Winchester brothers.

Also, I just watched one video of BTS because my friend was going crazy about them, and daaaaamn, I didn’t know those were my last moments of normal. But I don’t even regret it.

I know you guys don’t either!

2. The “Oh, okay… this is nice” stage

You start getting attached to the character or a person without knowing what’s coming next.

It’s like the calm before a storm.

You start liking this character or person and you’re constantly amazed by them and start rooting for them. When you are sooo into the character, you have a hard time putting that book down or playing the next episode even when it’s waaaaay past your bedtime.

When I first started listening to BTS, I was like yeah, I could listen to this and then I found myself listening to them 24/7. (Eh, I know… but I kinda wrote this with BTS in my mind!! My love for them is beyond the boundaries of this universe.)

3. The “Casually getting to know them” stage

This is the stage where you have already fallen into the fandom without realizing it and you are still busy digging your own grave.

Precisely.

Well, this stage mostly goes for tv shows and stuff but it’s also slightly relatable for books when you constantly talk about your favourite characters and start finding out more about the author and her other books and basically plan your world domination with your books. Yup!

As for tv shows, I have never been kind of into any celebrities so far. I mean I love a lot of them but that’s it. I don’t care what they are up to in their personal lives or what the do outside the set. Here comes the big- BUT with BTS, I am experiencing a whole new level of emotion for the first time in my life. I’m watching Bangtan Bombs, seeing crazy videos, laughing like a maniac all day and watching crazy videos again. It’s like I’ve completely gone off the rails but I totally know other ARMYs can relate to this. ❤

4. The “OMOOOOOOO I’M DEAD” stage

Legit. I’m not even kidding.

This is the stage where you ship everything and nothing. One moment you can’t hold your laughter and in the very next your heart breaks over a single thing and you’re flailing like a banana. (I don’t know where that came from, honestly!). And with all the FEEEEEEEELS you’re drowning!!

You’re are totally into the fandom zone and there’s no getting out!

When plot twist barges out of nowhere and your favourite character is in a do or die situation, it feels as if your life depends on it more than that character. Some characters come out trumping and some leave us, it actually hurts our poor souls and we end up bawling our eyes out. Isn’t that right, guys?

The other day I was reading a How Hard Can Love Be? by Holly Bourne and I was sooo sad for a character I kept hugging and patting the book. Non-bookish people might feel weird but for us, that’s what we do for our babies!

Now, whenever BigHit’s notification pops in my phone, or before a new video drops, I’m already flailing. Although I have a whole group in Whatsapp having the same life crisis as me, they still take my breath away. (Do I sound like a lovesick fool?) When Mic Drop remix (Yes, I’m leaving the link and yes, please go and watch the awesomeness!!) came out, me and my friend were in class desperately waiting for the teacher to leave. As soon as he went, I snatched one of other friend’s phone who had an internet connection and finally saw it. It was EPIC!!! Aaaagh. Still, not over it, my mind is continuously playing that in a loop. ❤

Anyway, to conclude you’re are head over heels for the character/person/band in this stage and you’re are never ever getting out of its beautiful clutches again!!!!

So guys, could you relate? Is this how is it every time for you because it is most of the time for me!! When did you fangirl the most? Lemme know in the comments!

  6. I started reading your post thinking “Fangirling, yes, I relate to this, I think” and then you basically described my journey of becoming obsessed with BTS and OMG I RELATE SO MUCH! Yes, it happens with books and tv series too for sure, and I love me some fangirling over them, but that’s nothing compared to my fangirling over BTS. That Mic Drop remix? I watched it pretty much on repeat the day it came out, it’s sooo good ❤

  7. Ahahah I love this post so, so much Poulami. I could see myself in every single stage, everytime I read a book that becomes a favorite of mine. I’m not sure about the book, yet I start reading it. I’m surprised, in a great way, and by the end of it all I am SCREAMING at everyone to just read the damn book, haha. 🙂
