Meet the Book Blogger tag!

Hey, y’all!
I have decided to do a tag after five thousand years of slumber.

Fate never seems to be on my side. I just tried to come back and boom, I fell extremely sick. Well, I was pretty much able to do nothing. At all. I was constantly dry coughing and had trouble breathing. Those weeks seems a blur right now but I hope I never have a repeat of that, ever again in this lifetime. 😭 I am quite alright now, thankfully.🤞

Anyhoooo, thanks to the lovely Marianna @ Marianna’s Corner for tagging me. Do check out her awesome blog if you already haven’t!

The rules for the tag:

    • Nominated bloggers can nominate ten other bloggers.
    • Use the same questions from the tag.

Okay, let’s shart shall we?

1. Who is your all-time favourite book character?
Okaaaay, so this is a no brainer for me. This title definitely goes to Magnus Bane, the all-time favourite glittery warlock from the Shadowhunters series (can I say that? He appears mostly in all books) by Cassandra Clare.

2. If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)
I would take books that I haven’t read yet. Wait, what? Only one book?
Maybe between The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon or House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. Haven’t read any of these two so it would be a good choice hopefully. (Not that I would last a day.)

3. What’s your most unpopular book opinion?
Not liking The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater maybe. The book has great reviews and quite a lot of bloggers love it. I have tried picking up the book three times now. Somehow, I don’t find it engaging and always end up dnf-ing it.

4. What’s your weirdest bookish habit?
Sniffing books is pretty much a norm in this community so I don’t, ahh yes, I remembered I do have the habit of turning to the last page to take a sneak peek. I don’t usually read the whole thing, just the last line or so. I have tried stopping myself, it just doesn’t happen.

5. What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?
Can I cheat and say Magnus Bane again? CanIcanICanI?
Because he is the beeeeeeeest!
Family events would comprise of relatives, not a huge fan of those and I tend to get easily bored. I believe Magnus would be the perfect choice, he would throw glitter and add some drama. 😅

6.What made you decide to start a book blog?
It was random. If I remember correctly, it was 2 or 3 AM when I decided.
Though I have to say I was very much inspired after seeing so many book blogs, so much fangirling. I fell in love with this community and just wanted to a part of it. I didn’t have anyone with a similar book choice when I started this book and this place provided me with the chance to shout my heart out about books. Still does.

7. What about reading and books do you love the most?
Losing myself in the stories, being with the characters, sharing the journey. I fell in love with reading around the age of 9-10 and since then it has been one of my biggest route of escape from reality.

8. What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?
Like Marianna, I want to work in publishing as an editor as well!!!

9. What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?
I can’t remember much but I think I was recommended Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. And boy oh boy, did I love the book and whole series!

10. What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?
The Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff. I (still) haven’t finished the trilogy but it’s EPIC!! It just is!

I tag:

Hillow guys. How have you been?

We may have another lockdown in India, I dunno but everything’s a mess with the elections and the numbers are skyrocketing. I don’t know why wearing a mask is such trouble for some people. 😭 The election rallies where nobody wears a mask is definitely one of the major reasons for the increasing number of COVID cases. And also the airport scams where the authorities have actually allowed people to pass through without the one-week mandatory quarantine by getting bribes. What is even happening?

The whole country has to suffer for some people. Is the pandemic ever going to be over, with this attitude?

It’s very very frustrating and I am pretty hopeless at the moment. Everything is stuck. Life is stuck yet trudging through somehow. I haven’t felt this hopeless in my life the way I feel right now. 😦 How are you guys coping or has everything started to be better where you reside?

I haven’t been able to read or watch anything. I am trying but stopping halfway through. I don’t have the motivation to do anything and having to force myself to work. I have been trying to write a blog post for days which was definitely hindered by my illness, but half drafts are sitting and here I am, just wanting to vanish.

Definitely need some good book recommendations so I can stay rooted.

Burn, Rewrite or Reread & the #VILLAINSQUAD Book Tag!

Credit: Source

Heyaaa guys!! It’s been a million years since I have done a tag! So, well, why not…

Thanks, Analee @ Book Snacks for tagging me to do the Burn, Rewrite or Reread book tag!

What to do:

-Randomly choose 3 books. (I used the ‘Random’ option on my Goodreads read shelf.)
-For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread. (A lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill.)
-Repeat until you completed three rounds (—though I’m doing more because why not?)

[P.S. Please understand that it’s my own opinion and don’t be serious about any of those because this tag’s just for fun. And by burn, I would never in a million years I would burn an actual book (because those are my precious, precious babies!!!) even if I didn’t enjoy it!]

Let’s get started!

Round 1

Burn: Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn- Okay, this was a slightly tough decision because I liked reading this book but I really hated the male lead at first, his attitude was too much and the way he treated her, she deserved much more. So yah, ah burn.

Rewrite: Hate 2 Lovers by K. Webster & J.D. Hollyfield- Well, K. Webster is one of my favourite authors when it comes to dark and complex romance and this book kinda fell in the latter category. Though it was a pretty hilarious read, some parts could have been a bit better? Ah, yeah, so I chose rewrite!

Reread: The Reluctant Sacrifice by Kerr-Ann Dempster- This was hands down one of the best fantasy books I have ever read!! The storyline, the characters were all unique including the twists and turns. This book is definitely worth the reread.

Round 2

Burn: Fallen Heir by Erin Watt- This book kinda broke the image of the sweet angelic goodness that Easton was, the guy I fell for in the first place was replaced with a complete jerk and obsessive stranger and the plot of this book didn’t help much either.

Rewrite: The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown- I am a huuuuuuuuge Dan Brown. Yes, for some the formulaic plot worked and for some not. Fortunately, I fall into the former category! But among all his books, The Lost Symbol is the book I least enjoyed, so rewrite is the best option for this one!

Reread: Saven Deception by Siobhan Davis- One of my favourite science-fiction series eeeeeever!! Aliens, politics, battles and the never-ending plot twists engaged me from the very first book till the last and I definitely want to reread it if I get a chance!

Round 3

Burn: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard- I pretty much stopped after reading Red Queen because I didn’t enjoy it that much. The plot, the characters seemed predictable to me and I lost interest in it quite soon. So, uh yeah burn.

Rewrite: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer- I umm.. loved this book but well I had to choose, so yeah…

Reread: Butterfly Dreams by A. Meredith Walters- Oooooh this was such a wonderful and beaaaaautiful read. This was my first book by Meredith Walters and I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning. So yup, definitely reread!

Thanks, Dee @ The Bookish Khaleesi for tagging me to do the #VILLAINSQUAD tag!

Create your own villain squad!

QUESTIONS:

1. Think of your own villain identity and power!

I have always loved the power of telekinesis and maybe also the ability to portal anywhere I want!

2. The Leader – Pick a villain to lead the squad.

Amarantha from A Court of Thornes and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. She was scary and horrifying. I remember being awestruck at how cruel she could be, she definitely earns this spot!

3. The Killer Smile – Pick a villain who’s just extremely attractive

Sebastian Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Ah well… Sebastian was freaking charming, nobody found out his true nature until it was veeeeery late.

4. The Loose Canon – Pick a villain that marches to the beat of their own drum

*Spoiler alert!* The Jackel from the Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown. A mastermind at scheming and definitely the one who likes to do his own evil thing!

5. The Unhinged One – Pick a villain that isn’t playing with a full deck

Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Uh… it’s a no-brainer. Levana is pretty much like that from the very start. I totally hated her but after reading Fairest I understood how unhinged her character actually was.

6. The Redeemer – Pick a villain that’s on a path of redemption/would play both sides

Aphrodite from the House of Night series by P.C & Kristin Cast. I absolutely loathed Aphrodite when I started HoN series. She was the cliched mean girl but oh my goodness, her character development was one of the best in this series. By the end of this series, she was one of my absolute favourites!

7. The Evil One – Pick a villain that is just bad to the bone

Good’ol Voldy from the Harry Potter series is the perfect candidate for this one, don’t you think? xD

8. The Once-Was-Good – Pick a villain that didn’t originally start out as a villain

The Lord Ruler from The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I can’t say more. It’s hella complicated. But yeah his intentions were definitely didn’t start out that way…

Sooooo do you guys, agree or disagree with me? If not, what are your choices?

The K-Pop Book Tag!! // K-pop has taken over my life…

Finally a tag!! 😀

I know I am slagging off on a looooot of tags right now but honestly, I couldn’t resist this tag. Because K-pop is lifeu!!! ❤ It has taken over my life and I looooove BTS to death!!

Anyway, thanks to Savannah @ The Book Prophet for tagging me in the K-pop book tag! Don’t forget to ckeck out her blog guys. ❤

Rules:

  • Credit the creator of this tag: The Book Prophet.
  • Thank the person that tagged you
  • Answer all of the questions to the best of your abilities
  • Tag as many people as you’d like

BTS – A Book Everyone Knows About

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling or Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I don’t think there’s anybody in this world who haven’t heard about these two series, even non-readers know the name!

EXO – Favorite Companion Novel

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi. While A Crown of Wishes followed Maya’s life, this book focused on her sister, a.k.a Gauri’s journey. This book was definitely an interesting read, the references were relatable and it was an unpredictable read.

NU’EST – A Book/Series/Author That Doesn’t Get the Attention You Think it Deserves

The Saven series by Siobhan Davis. This series is one of the best science-fiction I have ever read, she is the queen of cliffhangers and the plot twists and turns in her books never fail to amaze me. This series definitely deserves more love.

ASTRO – A Book That Gave You a Happy Feeling When Reading

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. This was a pretty cute and enjoyable read.

MONSTA X – A Book Containing a Diverse Set of Characters

The ones that immediately come to my mind are Carry On by Rainbow Rowell or Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

A.C.E – A Favorite Recent Release

The award definitely goes to Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff. Aaaaah, this book was gorgeous from the get-go, this book didn’t fail to surprise me and that bloody ending!!!! I want book 3. Very desperately!!

BLACKPINK – A Book That Sticks Out From The Rest Of its Genre

The Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff. Although the character is a young-adult, this series definitely breaks the stereotype that’s been attached to YA and that makes it a splendid read.

SEVENTEEN – A Book With Multiple POVs

The Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. Though I haven’t read it yet but it’s next on my list!!

BIGBANG – A Modern Classic

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Need I say anything more?

SISTAR – Series You Wish Never Ended

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare or just the Shadowhunter universe in general. I love this world too freaking much. And I think I’ll forever be biased towards TMI, it was too much of a special read for me.

RAIN – Favorite Stand-Alone

I’m a series junkie… but I still got a few favourites. Some of them are Bully and Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas, Holding Court by K.C. Held, How to Say I Love You Out Loud and How to Keep Rolling After a Fall by Karole Cozzo and Attachments by Rainbow Rowell.

Nooooow, onto the tagging part (I’m very bad at this though…). I tag-

And as always, feel free to avoid it if you have already done the tag or don’t want to! 🙂

So guys, are you into K-pop?? If yes, who’s your favourite? Aaaand, who’s your bias? Have you read any of the books on my list?? Are any of them your favourite??

Definitely Jace (from MI) or Will (from TID). ❤

What’s on your TBR for 2017? (Top 5 will suffice if it’s an extremely long list!)-

Any New Year’s Resolutions? (Bookish, blogging, and otherwise)-

I am tagging-

Of course it’s A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. You can read my review here.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

I sooo want to read Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

It’s going to be Gemina! by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Duh!

5. Biggest disappointment.

After reading the blurb, I though Change Places With Me by Lois Metzger waa going to be mind-blowing but unfortunately it turned out to be a disappointment.

6. Biggest surprise.

I received a finished copy of The Curse of Damini by Debajani Mohanty. I really wasn’t sure at first but then I absolutely fell in love with the story! You can read my review here.

7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you).

It’ll have to be Karole Cozzo, Kelly Oram and Colleen Hoover!

I LOVED Mor and Armen from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas.

10. Book that made you cry.

Oh this book did! My poor little heart!

Holding Court by K.C. Held. You can read my review here.

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

I definitely enjoyed The 5th Wave! You can read both and my book and the movie review here. Although I’m pretty excited for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the trailer seems awesome, I plan to start the series by then!

13. Favorite review you’ve written this year.

Well… this is kind of weird. But nonetheless I’ll go with Anomalies by Sadie Turner and Colette Freedman and Saven Disclosure by Siobhan Davis.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received).

This gorgeous baby! I sooo in love with the cover of Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and also When We Collided by Emery Lord.

WHERE DO I START!! I need to read Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, End of Days by Susan Ee, A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab, Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, Red Rising by Pierce Brown and so on and on… I’ll stop otherwise this list will never end!

After this loooong post, I don’ have the ability to tag anyone separately, so consider yourself tagged!

So this was my freak out! Do we have any books in common or what are your opinion?
