Burn, Rewrite or Reread & the #VILLAINSQUAD Book Tag!

Heyaaa guys!! It’s been a million years since I have done a tag! So, well, why not…

Thanks, Analee @ Book Snacks for tagging me to do the Burn, Rewrite or Reread book tag!

What to do:

-Randomly choose 3 books. (I used the ‘Random’ option on my Goodreads read shelf.)
-For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread. (A lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill.)
-Repeat until you completed three rounds (—though I’m doing more because why not?)

[P.S. Please understand that it’s my own opinion and don’t be serious about any of those because this tag’s just for fun. And by burn, I would never in a million years I would burn an actual book (because those are my precious, precious babies!!!) even if I didn’t enjoy it!]

Let’s get started!

Round 1

Burn: Unbreak My Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn- Okay, this was a slightly tough decision because I liked reading this book but I really hated the male lead at first, his attitude was too much and the way he treated her, she deserved much more. So yah, ah burn.

Rewrite: Hate 2 Lovers by K. Webster & J.D. Hollyfield- Well, K. Webster is one of my favourite authors when it comes to dark and complex romance and this book kinda fell in the latter category. Though it was a pretty hilarious read, some parts could have been a bit better? Ah, yeah, so I chose rewrite!

Reread: The Reluctant Sacrifice by Kerr-Ann Dempster- This was hands down one of the best fantasy books I have ever read!! The storyline, the characters were all unique including the twists and turns. This book is definitely worth the reread.

Round 2

Burn: Fallen Heir by Erin Watt- This book kinda broke the image of the sweet angelic goodness that Easton was, the guy I fell for in the first place was replaced with a complete jerk and obsessive stranger and the plot of this book didn’t help much either.

Rewrite: The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown- I am a huuuuuuuuge Dan Brown. Yes, for some the formulaic plot worked and for some not. Fortunately, I fall into the former category! But among all his books, The Lost Symbol is the book I least enjoyed, so rewrite is the best option for this one!

Reread: Saven Deception by Siobhan Davis- One of my favourite science-fiction series eeeeeever!! Aliens, politics, battles and the never-ending plot twists engaged me from the very first book till the last and I definitely want to reread it if I get a chance!

Round 3

Burn: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard- I pretty much stopped after reading Red Queen because I didn’t enjoy it that much. The plot, the characters seemed predictable to me and I lost interest in it quite soon. So, uh yeah burn.

Rewrite: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer- I umm.. loved this book but well I had to choose, so yeah…

Reread: Butterfly Dreams by A. Meredith Walters- Oooooh this was such a wonderful and beaaaaautiful read. This was my first book by Meredith Walters and I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning. So yup, definitely reread!

Thanks, Dee @ The Bookish Khaleesi for tagging me to do the #VILLAINSQUAD tag!

Create your own villain squad!

QUESTIONS:

1. Think of your own villain identity and power!

I have always loved the power of telekinesis and maybe also the ability to portal anywhere I want!

2. The Leader – Pick a villain to lead the squad.

Amarantha from A Court of Thornes and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. She was scary and horrifying. I remember being awestruck at how cruel she could be, she definitely earns this spot!

3. The Killer Smile – Pick a villain who’s just extremely attractive

Sebastian Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Ah well… Sebastian was freaking charming, nobody found out his true nature until it was veeeeery late.

4. The Loose Canon – Pick a villain that marches to the beat of their own drum

*Spoiler alert!* The Jackel from the Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown. A mastermind at scheming and definitely the one who likes to do his own evil thing!

5. The Unhinged One – Pick a villain that isn’t playing with a full deck

Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Uh… it’s a no-brainer. Levana is pretty much like that from the very start. I totally hated her but after reading Fairest I understood how unhinged her character actually was.

6. The Redeemer – Pick a villain that’s on a path of redemption/would play both sides

Aphrodite from the House of Night series by P.C & Kristin Cast. I absolutely loathed Aphrodite when I started HoN series. She was the cliched mean girl but oh my goodness, her character development was one of the best in this series. By the end of this series, she was one of my absolute favourites!

7. The Evil One – Pick a villain that is just bad to the bone

Good’ol Voldy from the Harry Potter series is the perfect candidate for this one, don’t you think? xD

8. The Once-Was-Good – Pick a villain that didn’t originally start out as a villain

The Lord Ruler from The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I can’t say more. It’s hella complicated. But yeah his intentions were definitely didn’t start out that way…

Sooooo do you guys, agree or disagree with me? If not, what are your choices?
