Blurb (from Goodreads):

Clipped Wings- An emotional love story that follows the touch-and-go relationship of Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

As Hayden and Tenley navigate their newfound but slightly unstable relationship, they want to trust each other, but Hayden is hiding a dark and shameful past that he doesn’t ever want Tenley to find out about. And Tenley has secrets of her own that could make Hayden run away forever. When Tenley asks Hayden to put a beautifully elaborate tattoo across her back, the two form what they thought was an unshakeable bond. But when Tenley’s past shows up on her doorstep, will Hayden stand by her side…or run?

Inked Armor- In this follow-up to Clipped Wings, the emotional love story continues between Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

In the wake of losing Tenley Page, tattooist Hayden Stryker’s tumultuous past is haunting him. Plagued by nightmares about the murder of his parents, Hayden reaches out again to Tenley. Having run from the man she doesn’t believe she deserves, Tenley finally lays her guilt to rest. Despite their intense physical attraction, Hayden and Tenley struggle to repair their fragile emotional connection. As Hayden gets closer to the truth, he must find a way to reconcile his guilt over his parents’ death in order to keep the woman who finally cracked his armor, and found her way into his heart.

My Thoughts

Both Clipped Wings and Inked Armor were mind blowing. I loved this series so much, it was a whirlwind of a ride and I fell in love with the characters!

Clipped Wings was such an interesting read. Tenley is still overcoming from the tragedy she recently went through when she meets Hayden, a tattoo artist. No one can deny their explosive chemistry. But can two people, so broken have a relationship without destroying one another?

I loved the plot. Although some things were a bit predictable, I loved how everything was executed. Tenley can’t get over the tragedy that wrecked her life until Hayden storms into her life. They had undeniable chemistry and I loved how their relationship slowly evolved.

“Everyone has scars, Tenley.
If we’re lucky, they’re only on the outside.”

My heart broke for both of them. Both of their pasts were so tragic, nobody deserves such pain such pain in their life but nobody could stop fate either. They were both broken yet so perfect for each other.

I loved Tenley’s idea for her tattoo which she wanted to symbolize the pain, anger she went through after what happened to her. Hayden’s cupcake obsession was classic, it was fun to read how he went ballistic when there were cupcakes in front of him. He was a complex character and just as swoon-worthy!

All the other characters were fantastic as well. I loved how Chris, Lisa, Cassie supported and loved Hayden and considered him their family. And when Tenley came into the picture, she filled the piece which was missing in his life.

Clipped Wings sort of ended in a cliffhanger and I immediately picked the next book!

*A little spoilery.*

Inked Armor picks up from where Clipped Wings left off. Tenley is back but things are not the same between her and Hayden anymore. She understands the depth of Hayden’s problem and how she left him at such a crucial time. Can their relationship survive when secrets from the past arise?

Just like the previous book, I was hooked into the story from the very start. Hayden and Tenley discover more about each other and how the past still continues to haunt them. This book is focused more on Hayden’s fear and nightmares more than Tenley’s because she somewhat got some closure.

Nonetheless, I loved their relationship. I especially loved the character development throughout the book. The raw emotions and feelings felt so real.

“She’d found a way between the cracks in my armor and blew it apart. I wanted to have the same effect on her”

The murder mystery of Hayden’s parents is finally solved. I predicted who the culprits were going to be and I was veeery happy when they got the punishment they deserved, especially Officer Cross because he felt dodgy from the start. Nonetheless, the ending was of this book was perfect and it melted my heart.

***

Overall, Clipped Wings and Inked Armor were fantastic reads! I definitely found a new favourite author. I absolutely loved both the books and the romance was so freaking good! The writing was beautiful and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.
